Once upon a time I urgently needed a wheel and I thought I had all the components to quickly build it (using my wheelbuildchart for truing).
Or so I thought. There was not enough spokes of the required length.
After the warehouse search and some calculations, I came up with the plan to build this monster. It is a 36-spoke wheel built 3x, except that on the drive side 8 spokes are in fact 4x.
After initial lacing, this is not something you even notice. Except that I'll need more than one spare spoke size - but I stopped carrying spare spokes for wheels I built myself. They never broke, not at least in last 15 years.
